DoTell Question Grader
The DoTell Surveys
Question Grader
Paste a question respondents will read on their phone, and get a score, diagnosis, and stronger wording that invites a rich spoken answer.
How the grader works
- Paste a survey question you plan to ask.
- Get a score from 1 to 10 with a plain-language diagnosis.
- Get better wording written for spoken, voice-to-text answers.
What makes a good voice survey question
- Specific: points to one moment, session, or experience.
- Single focus: asks one thing, not two.
- Neutral: doesn't hint at the answer you want.
- Invites a story: can't be answered with "no" or "nothing."
- No rating-scale wording: "how would you rate" gets a number, not a story.
Example: "How would you rate the event's value for the registration fee?" scores about 4.2. "If you were explaining the value of this event to a colleague, what would you tell them?" scores about 9.2.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the Question Grader free?
- Yes. It's free to use and needs no sign-up. Paste a question and get results in a few seconds.
- What does the score mean?
- Each question is scored from 1 to 10. Scores of 9 and up are reserved for neutral, single-focus questions that invite a story. Rating-style wording, leading phrasing, or asking two things at once pulls the score down.
- Why are voice survey questions different from written ones?
- When people answer out loud, short checkbox-style questions get one-word replies. Open, specific questions that ask about a real moment get fuller answers, which produce clearer themes and sentiment.
- What is DoTell Surveys?
